International Business Machines pushes for transparent development in enterprise AI

At the technology summit, IBM's Cox delivered a persuasive rationale for open innovation in enterprise generative AI. Cox, VP of artificial intelligence systems and head at the collaborative research center, underscored the crucial nature of openness in technological advancement, particularly in the current AI landscape.
Cox highlighted the nuanced nature of accessibility in AI, challenging the binary understanding of the principle. He observed the burgeoning network of accessible frameworks from diverse origins, including technology corporations, universities, and nation-states.
Nonetheless, he articulated worries about the nature of openness in many AI language systems, pointing out that certain models provide barely more than a "bag of numbers" without openness in their development processes.
